Gauteng XI
Tanzanian Team played its first warm up match against Gauteng XI at WitsCollege
Cricket Ground on 29/09/03. Tanzania Under 19 won the toss and elected to bat.
Hamisi Abdalah and Shahid Dhanani opened the inninings, Tanzania did not have a
good start they lost 3 quick wickets in 5 overs. Mohamed Khimji consolidated
Tanzania's innings with three partnerships with Athumani Kakonzi, Issa Kikasi and
Khalil Rehmtullah, their partnerships yielded 143 runs to give Tanzania a
comfortable score of 225, with Mohamed Khimji settling for 94 in 85 balls.
In reply Gauteng XI had already lost 6 wickets in the first 15 overs with a
score of 53, and ended up with a final score of 128 all out in 34.3 overs. Only
the Number 8 and the number 9 batsmen, SEKEI and SELLO managed a small
partnership of 47 runs.
Tanzania's bowlers restricted the Gauteng batsman to achieve its target with
their economic and consistent bowling performance, with Hamisi Abdalah taking 3
wickets and Benson Mwita taking 4 wickets.
