AFRICA WOMEN’S T20 CHALLENGE CUP HARARE ZIMBABWE.

Tanzania women’s Cricket national team left DSM  by Air Zimbabwe on the 28th April to participate in the Africa women’s T20 challenge Cup in Harare, with four teams participating namely Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia and host Zimbabwe. Skipper Monica Pascal said although will be facing all the strong teams from Africa, I have noted that all my fellows players have worked hard during our pre event practice sessions and I am confident that we will perform better in this event.

Day 1 morning game: Zimbabwe v/s Tanzania 9.30 am.

The Tanzanian women’s Cricket national team arrived late in Harare due to flight delayed for two hour during the take off from DSM.  It was almost 12.00 midnight by the time the team settled down from their journey at ZESA training center.

In the morning Tanzania faced the strong Zimbabwean side at the old Hararian Club venue. Tanzania lost the toss and was sent to field by the Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe managed to taken thyeir team score to 96/7 in allotted 20 over.  Tabu Omary and Nasra Hamza  bowled well to pin down the top order batters of Zimbabwe to put up a big score for their team. Nasra Hamza was the pick of the Tanzania bowlers taking 3wicket for 11 runs in her 4 over spell. Tabu also contributed in restricting Zimbabwe to a big score by taking 1 wicket in her 4 over spell.  Zimbabwe were 55 / 5 in the 12th over. Lower batter Jay Mkomo scored 26 not out to taking their final team score to 96/7.

In chasing the score the Skipper Monica Pascal and Fatuma Kibasu opened the Tanzanian innings with Fatuma being run out in the first over. Monica was joined by Nasra Hamza and took the score to 31 runs in 11th over when Monica (13) was out on a lbw. Nasra was then joined by Perice Zakayo(24) building a small partnership taking the score to 62 in 14th over when Nasra (21)was out on  lbw. From the entire batting line collapsed for 74/8 in their allotted 20 overs failing reached the target giving victory to Zimbabwe.

 

 

 

          

 

29-04-2018: afternoon game 1.30 pm.

Tanzania v/s Uganda.

Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first. Tanzania loss 3 quick wicket Fatuma Kbasu, Nasra Hamza and Perice Zakayo in the first 4 overs with only 8 runs on the board. It was Skipper Monica Pascal (40), Neema Justine (15) and mwanaiddi (16)who stabilized their innings taking their final team score to 103/9 in their 20 allotted over’s.

In defending their score Tanzanian opening bowlers Zena Hassan and Tabu Omary strike an early blow to Uganda top batters by taking 5 quick wickets and reduced Uganda for 30/5 in first 8 overs. Uganda kept on losing the rest of their batters in regular intervals and were all out for 83 in 17 overs. Tanzania recording their first victory against Africa champions Uganda.

Tomorrow is a rest day for all teams.
