TANZANIA WIN BY 14 RUNS AGAINST HOST
RWANDA.
Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first. The duo
opening batters, skipper Fatuma Kibasu(3) and Monica
Pascal opened the innings for their side. Skipper Fatuma
was given lbw in the 4 th over with only 10 runs on the
board. Monica was then joined by Hudaa Mrisho both
going well for 7 overs, when Hudaa Mrisho(14) was
bowled out by Ishimwe in the 11 th over with their team
score of 50/2 on the board. Monica Pascal was joined by
Neema Justine joined Monica and two started going well
to maintaining an average of 5 runs an over for their team,
when Monica Pascal (40runs off 41balls) was run out
unluckily from a straight shot hit by Neema Justine (16)
that touched the bowlers hand and went straight to the
stumps when she was out of her crease, leaving behind
her team score of 75/3 in 14 overs. Neema Justine was
joined by Perice Zakayo (4)who did not last long and was
caught by Veronica in short mid on. Nasra saidi, Nasra
Hamza and Winfrida Finkili took the final team score to
105/7 in 20 allotted overs.

In defending the score the Tanzanian side fielded tightly
and got a break through on the 3 rd bowl of the first over by
getting a run out of Rwandan opening batter Diana. The
rest of the Rwanda batting line resisted the Tanzanian
bowling attack with their score going up gradually trying to
chase the targeted score. Tanzania bowler Tabu Omary
got her first wicket for her team in 9 th over with Rwandan
score of 34/2. Rwanda started losing fast wickets from the
13 th over with a score 56/5. The Rwandan middle order
and low order fought hard to chase the targeted score with

a final score of 91/9 in their allotted 20 over. Thus
Tanzania won by 14 runs.
Monica Pascal was awarded the women of the Match for
the second time. Tanzania has won the three games of
the first round and are on top of the table on points.
Tomorrow 20-06-2019, Tanzania will face Uganda in their
first game of the second round at the Gahanga Stadium at
01.50 pm.
Although Uganda are second on the table, their net run
rate in higher then Tanzania. Tanzania will have to give in
their hundred present on the field to win the match against
Uganda. A lose would cost them the championship.
