TANZANIA U19 BOYS CLINCHED THE THIRD QUALIFYING SLOT FOR DIV1 AFTER WINNING AGAINST MOZAMBIQUE BY 75 RUNS.

On a beautiful sunny day, Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first. Tanzania opening batters Skipper Baraka Laiza and Salimini Saidi started the innings with Salimini Saidi being caught for a duck in the 3.4 over by C. Emirio with a score of 6/1. Gokul Das Joined Baraka laiza but did not last much and was bowled for a duck in the 6.1 over leaving behind their team score of 14/2. Baraka Laiza was joined by Krutik Thakkar taking their team score to 47/3 in the 11th over when Krutik(13) was bowled out by A,Conwana. Aahil Jassani came to the crease to join Baraka Laiza(27) who was caught by C. Emirio in the short leg with a score of 59/4 on board. Aahil Jassani(13) was joined by Dhrumit Mehta taking their team score to 89/5 when Aahil was bowled out by J.Bulelo in the 23rd over. Dhrumit Mehta(37) and Kartik sayal(48) build 80 run partnership when both were our in the 36th over leaving behind their team score of 169/7. Fu Omari(20 not out),Abdallah Jabiri(4), Dhruv Pancholi (16) and Mohamed Issa(3) took their team score to 215/10 in 47 overs of their 50 allotted overs.
In defending the score the Tanzanian Openning bowler Kartik Sayal bowled out S. Nhavotso on a duck in the 4th ball of his opening spell. Tanzania decided to bring in their spin attack Dhrumit Mehta and who dismissed B.Sambo(3), J.Bulela(0) and G.Gomes(1) with the opposite score of 31/4 in 8.1 over. V.Tembo and B. Simango(11) built a small partnership taking their team score 72/5 in the 24th over. V.Tembo and A. conwana(16) again built a small partnership taking their team score to 83/6 in the 24th over. It was V.Tembo(90) who resisted the Tanzanian spin attack was was caught at short covers by Krutik Thakkar in 40.4 over with their team score of 139/9. Tanzania bowlers brought the Mozambican innings to an end restricting them to score 140/10 in 41.1 over’s in their allotted 50 over’s, hence winning by 75 runs to qualify for the DIV 1.
In the evening at the closing ceremony, Tanzania’s Aahil Jassani was awarded the best batsman award for scoring a total of 184 runs with one unbeaten century. He was also awarded the man of the series for his 184 runs and for economy in bowling plus his wks.
