ICC AFRICA REGION DIV 2 WCQ S. AFRICA FROM 17TH TO 29TH AUGUST 2018. UNLUCKY TANZANIA U19 DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS AFTER LOSING TO NIGERIA.

Match no 5. Semi Finals Tanzania v/s Nigeria.

Tanzania won the toss and elected to field first. Tanzania opening bowlers bowled well taking regular wickets of their opponents. Salimini Saidi, Dhrumit Mehta and Mohamed Issa took 3 wickets each leaving the Nigerians in a panic situation with a score of 87/9 in 30.3 overs. Tanzania become over confident and started to relax and was not able to break the last pair partnership of R. Abolarin and I. Uboh by bringing in wrong bowling changes, allowing them to to build a partnership of 80 runs in 15 over’s spell taking their team score to 169/10 in 45.2 overs of their 50 allotted overs, when R. Abolarin was caught at long off by Dhrumit Mehta.

 

In chasing the score the Tanzanian lost a quick wicket of skipper Baraka Laiza in the 2nd over for just 7 runs on the board. Salimini saidi was bowled out in the 11th over by P. Aho with the team score of 31/2 in 10 3 overs. Tanzania lost another 2 quick wickets of Kartik Thakkar and Abdallah Jabiri for just 5 runs in 2 overs, leaving behind their team score of 36/4. Gokul Das and Aahil Jassani tried to stabilize the game building a small partnership 29 runs when Aahil was caught at short covers by O. Olaleye with their team score 65/5 in 22.2 overs. Gokul Das was the only Tanzanian  batsman to stay  at the crease getting no support from his collegues. Gokul Das(61 runs) was caught at short mid wicket by I. Danladi with a score of  126/8 in 38.1 over. The rest of the Tanzanian low order batsmen Faraji Mrope(o) Krutik Sayal and Dhruv Pancholi could not chase the targeted score, ending their innings for 134/10 in 44.1 over of their 50 allotted over’s hence losing against Nigeria.

Sierra Leonne and Nigeria will play the finals while Tanzania will play Mozambique to fight for the third slot for qualifying to Div 1 on Tuesday 28th August 2018 at Senwes park ground. This will be the last chance for Tanzania to qualify for Div 1.
