Match no 5 Tanzania v/s Kenya.

Tanzania lost the toss and was sent to field first. The Kenyan opening bat Dhiren Gondaria and Alex Obanda start their innings well and was 47 runs losing no wickets at end of the power play. It was Alex Obanda (103 of 57 balls) to record the first century of the event after being dropped three times. His partner Dhiren Gondaria contributed 58 runs of 38 balls to the team score before both were dismissed. Rakep Patel(33) and Pushpak Kerai(8) both not out did the rest of the job for their team. Tanzanian players dropped 8 catches allowing Kenya reach their final score of 214/2 in their allotted 20 over’s.

In chasing the score Tanzania lost 2 early wickets on a duck of Jitin Pratab Singh (0) and Rahil Amarshi(0) to the Kenyan opening bowler Nehemia Odhiambo. Abhik Patwa(22) and Muhammed Khan(33)  controlled the game taking their team score to 56 runs in the 6th  over, when Muhammed Khan was caught by Lucas Ndandason in the deep gully. Tanzania lost another three fast wickets of Abhik Patwa  bowled by Skipper Shem Ngoche in the 7th  over, Jatin Darji run out in the 8th over and Zamoyoni Jenebeke(0) caught at long on by Gurdeep singhin the 9th over. Tanzania was 6 wickets down in the 10th over with only 60 runs on the board. Tanzania needed another 151 runs in the last 10 over’s to win the match. Skipper Kassim Nassoro(36)not out and Salum jumbe(48) build a partnership of 84 runs to reach their final score of 158/8 in their 20 allotted over’s. Kenya won the game by 56 runs and recorded their fifth victory of the event to secure the top slot for Africa qualifiers.

Tanzania will play their last match against Rwanda tomorrow at Gahanaga Stadium.
