02-05-2018: GAME 5: TANZANIA V/S NAMIBIA MORNING 09.30 AM:
Tanzania’s key players, Zanaidi Finkili, Tabu Omary, Linda Massawe were nursing their injuries leaving no options for the Coach and the captain to replace them with substitute players when facing Namibia. Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first with Skipper Monica Pascal and Fatuma Kibasu opening the innings. The opening pair could not build a partnership with Skipper Monica Pascal being dismissed early on lbw in second over. Fatuma Kibasu was then joined by Nasra Hamza who also did not last and was bowled out in the third over. Fatuma was joined by Perice Zakayo who build a small partnership taking their team score to 44 runs with 3 wicket down 10.2 overs. Fatuma was joined by Neema Justine taking their team score to 55 run in 12.1 over when Neema was run out. Fatuma was then joined Tabu Omary to add 10 more runs to the team kitty when Tabu was caught out in the 14.3 over with 66 on the board. It Fatuma kibasu(40) and Mwaniddi Ammy who team score to 94/6 when out on a lbw. Mwanaiddi was joined by Nasra Saidi taking their score to 109/7 when mwanaiddi (13) was run out. Tanzania settled with their score of 112/7 in their allotted 20 in their 20 allotted over’s.
Namibia’s opening batters Y. Khan and K. Green opened their innings aggressively achieving the required run rate in the first three over’s. K. Green was bowled in 7th over at the score was 27/1. . Van zyl joined Y.Khan and was caught out in the 12th over with a score of 46/2. Namibian wickets fell in regular intervals. It was Van de Merwe and Y .Khan who took their team score to 70 runs in 16.2 overs when Y.Khan(37) was caught out . Namibia was unable to chase the targeted score and managed to settled down a final score of 95/8 in their allotted 20 overs to give Tanzania victory.
02-05-2018: GAME 6: TANZANIA V/S UGANDA 01.30 PM.
Tanzania still nursing the injured key players was a big challenge in a must to win match against Uganda in order to qualify for the finals. Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat with Skipper Monica Pascal and Nasra Hamza opening the innings who could not capitalize on the Ugandan bowling attack. Nasra Hamza was out on a lbw in the 4th over with score of only 9/1. Fatuma Kibasu joined Monica but still could not capitalize on the Ugandan bowling, when Monica (20) was caught out in the slips with a score of 39/2. Fatuma was joined Perice Zakayo and Fatuma was caught out in the 16th over with team score of 50/3. Tanzania struggled to play the Ugandan bowlers and settled down to a score of 67/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
In defending the low score Tanzanian bowlers tried their best to pin down the Ugandan batters, but could not hold them for long. Ugandan batters were not in rush to achive the targeted score and finished the game in the 17.1 over with a score of 68/4, winning the game by 6 wickets to qualify for the finals v/s host Zimbabwe.
Tanzania will face Namibia for the third time battling for the 3rd & 4th position of the event.
Tanzania missed to qualify for the finals narrowly but in the evening the whole team along with Ugandan team celebrated the Birthday of player Zena Hassan.
