The Mwalimu Nyerere A1 Tournament 2008/9 commenced from Oct 2008 and was played till December 2008. It than resumed in February 2009. A total of 4 teams participated namely Academy Boys , Ekta S.C. , Aga Khan S.C. and Upanga S.C. Academy Boys emerged as winners and Ekta S.C. were runners up. Aga Khan S.C. is third placed and Upanga S.C. is bottom on the table and will have to play a play off game with the winner of A2 for the next season A1 qualifying teams.
