All-rounder Abhik Patwa posted the second century of the championship as Marafiki.com defeated Veecom by four runs in the Advanced Players League (APL).

Playing at Annadil Burhani oval over the weekend, Patwa batted bravely to register 109 runs out of 172 his team garnered in the 50 over match.

The national team player was at his best to hit a number of boundaries while running fast between the wickets.

Patwa is the only player who has managed to register two centuries in the tournament, which has also drawn four professional cricketers from India.

Veecom earned Sh 150,000 as a winning prize while Patwa emerged man of the match and walked away with Sh50, 000.

It was one of the toughest encounters of the tournament as each team put in superb displays in a bid to win.

Towards the end of the game, the teams were tied at 169 runs, however Marafiki capitalised on the extra ball to edge their opponents.

At UDSM ground, Tata Tanzania defeated Castle Lager by 75-runs in a one-sided match.

Tata Tanzania batted first and managed to post 135 runs that the off-form Castle cricketers failed to chase.

Veterans Viru Kamania and Abdukader Dossajee were the outstanding cricketers of the tie. Viru took six wickets while Dosage managed three wickets for the winners.

Indian import Gaurav Chavan hit 40 runs for Tata Tanzania.

The league continues next weekend in 20 overs and ODI series.

UDSM ground, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and Annadil Burhan will host this weekends matches, according to tournament coordinator, Kazim Nasser.
