Marafiki.com batted second to overhaul Veecome Warriors by seven wickets in the ongoing Advanced Players League, APL, a match played at the Annadil Burhani venue yesterday.

Veecome won the toss and elected to bat while setting a target of  168 runs (all out) in the 50 allotted overs.

Hatim Kudrati and Khuzema Janoowala each scored 27 runs as Paresh Karawala added 23. Sidesh Kinelakar took two wickets as Hasnain Damji hauled three as they rocked Veecom’s batting line up.

In response, Marafiki.com rallied from behind to chase the target with their star batsman Abikh Patwa at his best notching his second century in the series.

Patwa becomes the first player in the ODI series to notch centuries since the APL started two weeks ago.

Marafiki scored 172 with seven wickets to spare, Meet Jetha scoring 22 runs in the process, while Patwa had 109 runs to his credit.

The match was a reverse of the twenty20 tie played between the two teams a day earlier at the same venue with Marafiki tumbling by seven wickets as well.

The losers won the toss and opted to bat to score 104 runs (all out) in the allotted 20 overs.

Harsheel Shah scored 22 runs, Abhik Patwa 16  and Shaheed Dhanani notched 13 to finish their innings.
Veecome trio of Prashan Gawde, Bhavesh Pranla and Gurpal Singh each took two wickets to weaken Marafiki.com batting line-up whose wickets tumbled in quick succession.

Veecome who batted second successfully chased the Marafiki’s target to exceed it by three runs with three overs to spare.

The winners had their Indian import Prashant Gawde notching unbeaten 32 runs  and Bhavesh Pranla also was at his best to register unbeaten 15 runs, Angel Seth 15 and Mustafa Lukumanje managed 14.

Hasnain Damji was the only wicket taker for the Marafiki.com team claiming two. For the second time in a fortnight Gawde was declared man of the match.

In another limited overs match played at the University of Dar es Salaam venue, Castle Rockets continued to falter  when they were beaten by 68 runs by Tata Tanzania.

Tata batted first to register 139 runs (all out) woth Gaurav Chavan hitting 40 runs. In response Castle Rockets  collapsed as the scoreboard read 61 runs.

Virendra Kamania was the toast of Tata Tanzania’s bowling when he claimed sox wickets to suffocate the brewers.

Swapnil Salve managed paltry 25 runs as the Tanzania Breweries team found the ODI series tough to endure.

The matches continue next weekend both in Twenty20 and ODI series.
