TATA Tanzania rallied from behind to beat
Veecom Warriors by four runs in Advanced Players League
match played at the Annadil Burhani venue, yesterday.
Veecom won the toss and opted to bat to set a target of
209 runs losing nine wickets in the 50 allotted overs.
Prashant Gawde scored the series third century, notching
101 unbeaten runs for Veecom. Tata’s Virendra Kamania
took three wickets for 38 runs in his ten overs of
bowling spell.
Tata chased the target with Gaurav Chanav hitting 70
runs and Issa Kikasi 45 runs. Vishal Patel hauled three
wickets losing 37 runs in ten overs.
In another match played at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana
venue, Castle Rockets missed the target by four runs
short as Marafiki won by 149 runs. Castle needed six
runs in the final over but collapsed at the end to lose
the match.
In a Twenty20 APL series match played at the same venue
last Saturday, Castle Rockets defeated Tata Tanzania by
119-70 runs all out.
Rockets won the toss and batted first to set the target
that was tall order for the truck makers as their
batting line up collapsed.
Benson Mwita was inspirational for Rockets’ win when he
compiled 50 unbeaten runs while team mate Swapnil Salve
added 29 in the scoring kitty.
Harsh Ramaiya was a toast of the Rockets side when he
took five wickets while conceding eleven runs in his
four overs of bowling spell.
Ramaiya has been Rockets’ dependable wicket taker since
the league started last month.
This is a third match for the brewers that keeps them on
second position in the league standings for the Twenty20
series behind Veecom Warriors.
